Volunteering projects

Volunteer work is important in a community for many reasons. Both the volunteers and whoever they are helping will benefit greatly. It allows people to come together to help worthy causes like preserving the environment or helping people in need. Even helping a little bit can create huge positive impacts. Moreover, volunteering is the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and create connections with others, which enable cultural exchange and multicultural understanding. Voluntary work will also give you valuable experiences. Not only will you learn a lot, but having real-world experience will make you having a better understanding of the world, will increase your open-mindedness and can help you to find your purpose in life. Finally, volunteering is proven to make people happier and healthier because of how rewarding it is to help others. Knowing that you are doing good for the world will bring fulfillment and joy into your life.

The UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Programme (WHV) is an initiative to raise awareness among young people of the importance of World Heritage conservation, and give them concrete skills by working on a project through an action camp at a World Heritage site. In this context, KVSO Kenya is organizing four action camps from June to August 2023; one in Maasai Mara National Park, one in Thimlich Ohinga Archeological Site, one in Tsavo National Parks & Chyulu Hills Complex, and one in Kakamega Rainforest.

Short-term volunteering

A short-term volunteering will allow you to experience the Kenyan culture and to meet volunteers from all over the world. This is a unique experience to volunteer abroad, especially for those who only have a short time available.

Mid & Long-term volunteering

A mid or long-term volunteering will give you the opportunity to be part of a community and to get an immersive insight into new cultures, while being involved in a project which will improve local people's lives.
