The 2018 Cerebral Palsy Charity walk will take plae on the 23rd of June 2018.
CPSK has been a leader in the campaign to create awareness and advocate for the rights of persons afflicted by Cerebral Palsy (CP) in Kenya. This year’s theme is ‘Every Child Counts’. This event has been the principal conduit through which the society creates awareness about the Cerebral Palsy (CP) condition in children and also to raise the much needed funds to finance the rehabilitation programs for more than 350 children living with CP.
Last year’s walk raised 4.6 Million out of the targeted 15million which has been disbursed as follows:-
– Awareness creation which has reported 10% increase in the number of new cases registered at the clinic
– Rehabilitation: The number of children on the rehabilitation program (daily clinic and outreach) has increased. CPSK has in partnership with Chereng’any Nursing Home in Kitale has opened the first cerebral Palsy clinic in in Trans Nzoia County.
– Sponsorship program; an additional number of 30 children were added to our sponsorship program relieving families from the estimated.
– The society has revamped economic empowerment/livelihood program through the creation of CPSK Self Help Initiative (SHI) a SACCO-like scheme which targets 50 families and 10 adults living with CP.
This year, CPSK intends to raise 20 Million to buy two mini vans to facilitate the transportation of children to – and from- the CPSK special school. The school has admitted 45 learners, out of these children 20 cannot report because of lack of transport.
